Who’s Got This in Your Life? Essay Contest

The “Who’s Got This in Your Life?” Essay Contest allows high school students an opportunity to share his/her story about a person that has made a tremendous impact in their life.

These family members, leaders, mentors, or friends demonstrated extraordinary compassion, courage, or connection by taking a stand for good in spite of pressure, obstacles, or circumstances. The “Mike’s Got This” Essay Contest challenges students to write an original and creative essay that demonstrates an understanding of leadership, championship, courage, and excellence.​

Contest Topic​

Describe a champion or hero who has performed an act of compassion, courage, or connection. It can be a family member, leader, mentor, or friend. Include an analysis of the obstacles, risks, and consequences associated with the act. The essay may concern an issue at the local, state, national, or international level.​

Contest Prizes

High School Prizes:

  • 1st Place: $2,000 scholarship
  • 2nd Place: Laptop computer (approx. value $1,500)
  • 3rd Place: $500 gift card

Middle School Prizes:

  • 1st Place: Laptop computer (approx. value $400)
  • 2nd Place: $250 gift card
  • 3rd Place: $100 gift card

Judging Criteria

All Essays will be judged by a judging panel consisting of Sponsor’s staff based on the following criteria:

For Print Essays:

  1. Tells a compelling story (70%)
  2. Completeness (15%) – Did you fully answer the prompt?
  3. Writing quality and grammar (15%)

For Video Essays:

  1. Tells a compelling story (70%)
  2. Completeness (15%) – Did you fully answer the prompt?
  3. Speaking Ability (15%) – Were you persuasive and confident, clear, concise, knowledgeable, and logically explain the story?

Contest Policies​

All entries must include a completed online registration form and be submitted via upload by 11:59pm (EST) on January 31, 2025, to be eligible for judging. The DiPasquale Moore Law Firm is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, damaged, illegible, or incomplete submissions.​

By entering, you agree that your essay will become the property of the DiPasquale Moore Law Firm and will not be returned. The DiPasquale Moore Law Firm reserves the right to print and display the essays and submitted photographs of the contest winners and/or their heroes.​
